Chai Frosting

  • 15 – 16 ounces (1 bag) powdered sugar
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup vegan margarine
  • 1/2 cup vegan shortening
  • 4 tbsp soymilk
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp ground cardamom
  • generous pinch salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla, if desired


  1. Beat margarine and shortening until creamy.
  2. Work in soymilk and powdered sugar until you get the consistency you like.
  3. Mix in spices, including salt and vanilla, if using.
  4. Frost Chai Spice Cake.
